I bought this car with the money my Dad left me when he died. It wasn't a lot but it brought forward the replacement of my transport vehicle. Previously I had a Rover Sterling Mk2 and it was a great car except for the built in electrical faults! I found it in the Auto Trader but negotiated with the dealer to let me have it as a "trade sale" so the price dropped considerably from the original £12,000. It has a relative high mileage but not too much and a full service history, a new engine @ 70,000 miles and to crown it all it had one owner from new who paid (believe it or not) close on £60,000 for it!

The car is a 1996 BMW 740i. It has the all aluminium V8 engine and 5 speed automatic transmission, traction control, parking proximity warning, heated seats, fully computerised radio and other information functions, electric seats and mirrors and a multi-function steering wheel that not only controls the radio, tape CD volume and track + station but the cruise control and the telephone system. The only thing it doesn't appear to do is to wipe my backside! Top speed is supposed to be in the region of 155MPH and is limited by the ECU (some sort of boy's club arrangement with Mercedes and Porsche) however, I've had it up to 140 (indicated) so it's no slouch! Apparently if one re-wires the fuel pump to a separate fused supply it by-passes the speed limiter so Valhalla here I come at 170MPH..... Varooooooooooooooooooooooom!
